Benji Boko

Country: UK

Genres: mash up, live mixing

Things started getting out of control in 2010 when Benji guided 17,000 revellers into the New Year at the London O2 arena alongside Deadmau5, Justice and Calvin Harris.

This guy has taken the music scene by the scruff of the neck with his totally unique live remix show called “Can I Mix It?”. In his own words it's, "Completely improvised, off the cuff, live remixing"

This has led to Benji supporting DJ Yoda, Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Beardyman and Fat Freddy’s Drop, which has pocketed him some serious street cred! “Benji is the future! His Live show is FRIKKIN’ MEGA!” (DJ Yoda) “What Benji does Live is REALLY fun and unique!” (Zane Lowe)

“One of the most versatile new guys out there, with a great stage presence and cracking MIX of music!” (Rob Da Bank)

Benji's stage set-up is like something out of the Star Ship Enterprise, his sophisticated arsenal of gadgets allow him to re-invent pretty much any party tune, cartoon theme or movie soundtrack into something new while taking everyone on an epic journey through the history of music itself!

Benji is a busy boy! From touring Europe as well as rockin’ the major festivals like Rockness, Bestival & Glastonbury he has earnt a reputation for delivering. His show was recently described as “Peak hour dancefloor weaponry!”

Amongst all this madness Benji has managed to release his debut album! “Beats, Treats & All Things Unique” was released worldwide on June 20th 2011 on Brighton based label “Tru Thoughts”.

Collaborating with Maxi Jazz (Faithless) & Ricky Rankin (Roots Manuva) its no wonder why it has been supported across the entire BBC Radio network and has been described by MOBO as “someone who breaks the mould. A record so diverse you can listen to it in a mellow environment or at a crazy festival, there are no limits!

Definitely someone for the future who will no doubt be around for many years to come!” Finally he’s been enlisted for remixing duty by Fatboy Slim, Chromeo, Little Dragon, Beardyman & Kidda amongst others.

Benji is currently working on his second album and a brand new LIVE animation show. Benji cant quite contain his excitement and says “Imagine the purple monkey in a pixar movie!”
